SOCIAL MOBILITY MENTORSHIP SCHEME

Our society's social mobility mentorship scheme is one of the first of its kind at the for the School of Law at the University and is one of the many examples of our commitment to diversifying the bar. Whilst several law societies have peer mentorship schemes, none have a scheme specifically dedicated towards the professional mentoring of students. This is not surprising due to the immense amount of work required to create one, especially in the midst of a pandemic whereupon everything has to be facilitated virtually. Our mentorship scheme seeks to empower students who are BAME, LGBT+, disabled, have attended state-run schools or are from lower socio-economic backgrounds to begin to overcome some of the barriers they may face at the bar through the encouragement, guidance, and wisdom of those who have surpassed these same hurdles.
